What if we want to write our own wedding vows?
Have a rendezvous with your heart before you sit to write your wedding vows. Vows are promises couples make to each other and abide by them throughout their married l life. These are not just words, but your true feelings for your soul mate. Writing your own wedding vows makes your wedding even more special. The vows stay with you throughout your marriage, but people often don’t know where to start. If you need help, I’ll be happy to assist you.

How and where do we obtain our marriage license?
Contact your County Probate Court to obtain your license. Your license is only valid for 60 days in most cases, so it is best to obtain your license a month or so before your wedding. In Franklin County You may apply for your license in person or on line at www.co.franklin.oh.us/probate/departments/marriage.cfm.  If you live in another County, please check with your local probate court.  I will record your marriage license immediately after the ceremony so you may make arrangements to change your necessary documents within 2 weeks after your wedding.

Do I really need a wedding rehearsal?
If you are having a small wedding with only an attendant and a best man, flower girl and/or ring bearer, there is really no need for a rehearsal. I always arrive well over an hour prior to your wedding and make certain everyone knows what they are to do. However, if you are having a large wedding and you have a planner, they will take you through the rehearsal. If you do not have a planner, I will be happy to take care of the rehearsal for you.

This is a second marriage for us and we both have small children. What is the best way to include them so they feel a part of our union?
I suggest letting the girls be flower girls and the boys be ring bearers. If you have teenagers, they can be junior bridesmaids and groomsmen. Don’t forget the Mothers of the Bride and Groom….they need  to feel included  as well, and presenting them with roses as a surprise always brings tears to their eyes and makes them feel really special.

What if we want a dinner prayer?
I will be happy to read the dinner prayer as it is included as a part of my services.

May we consult with you if we have personal concerns or questions prior to our wedding?
Of course you can! I am not a licensed counselor, however I’ll be happy to speak with you if you have relationship concerns or if I can do anything to make your decisions easier. Many couples get pre marital "jitters" and need clarification or advice from time to time. I am here to help you in any way I can.

I’m afraid I’ll forget my vows and make a mistake repeating them during the ceremony.
You will receive a copy of your ceremony prior to your wedding so you will have time to be very familiar with the wording. Be assured when it comes to the vows you will have to repeat, I will take it slowly and read one sentence at a tim,e so you will be able to repeat your vows without any mistakes. You only have to remember two little words…."I do".
